Get your Orthocard here...

The Orthocard is now live

Any patient in the UK who has undergone Orthopaedic Intervention can apply to receive a creditcard-sized, personalised card to keep with them at all times. They can use it to show any border control staff (ie airports, ferry terminals etc), to inform their GP or Dentist if they are concerned about Antibiotic Prophylaxis, or to inform paramedics in the event of a serious injury which needs prior knowledge of any previous implant.

There are three methods of obtaining your Orthocard:

A) At the time of your orthopaedic intervention, ask your Consultant, Ward Manager or Discharge Nurse at the hospital where you underwent the intervention to hand you one of their Blue, A5, 'Join Joint Action' leaflets. These leaflets are uniquely coded to each hospital, although not all hospitals are currently live as distributors. Then complete the form and post it back to the address detailed on it.

B) Open a Joint Account from the Joint Action website and as part of the process, you can download an application form, fill it in, then get it verified and stamped by your GP. Then pop it in the post to the address detailed on the form.

C) If you do not have internet access, you can always call The British Orthopaedic Association and ask for a Orthocard application form to be sent in the post to you.

Remember the Orthocard gives you: Peace of mind and ease of travel at Security Checkpoints and gives vital information for Dentists and Doctors to help prevent the serious risks of infection.

Don't leave home without yours !!!

Ps - If you are a current BOA member and you wish to become a distributor of the Orthocard, please contact Peter Foy at the BOA directly for further information.
