Gone but not forgotten
Anne Strachan (née Meade)
18 May 1951 - 08 May 2012
It is with the fondest memories and greatest regret, that we write this press release to say farewell to a long-standing member of BOA staff, Anne Meade. As you know, Joint Action is the research fundraising arm of the British Orthopaedic Association. As well as sharing the same Charitable and Registered company numbers, we also share the same office space and have known Anne since we both joined as members of staff.
Anne worked for the BOA for over 22 years in many roles, but most notably in recent times, as the head of the BOA’s Information Technology; with prime responsibilities for our network, websites and co-ordination of our annual Manpower census.
Both of us were fortunate enough to have known and worked with Anne and were honoured to be present at both her funeral at St Anthony of Padua’s Catholic Church, in Edgware and Committal at Hendon Crematorium.
As a woman of strong Catholic faith, Anne came to terms with her progressive illness with dignity and a great inner strength. We fondly remember her stoic words when confronted with the news of her cancer; “…Well, I hadn’t planned anything for my retirement anyway…”
Anne - thank you for your mint (from the bottom of your garden), coffee, wisdom and laughter. We will miss you.
